04 Jul 2011 Yuan Wei Fish Steamboat

Went to collect my graduation gown with my friends from Broadway studios at Serangoon. After the collection, we walked aimlessly, looking for something to eat for dinner. And so we stumble upon Yuan Wei Deep Sea (Giant Garoupa) Fish Porridge, Fish Steamboat. There were some pictures of celebrities on the entrance, so we decided to give it a try. The moment we stepped in, we can smell an odour of the what seems to come from the toilet! That was a pretty turn off, but it was not that bad, so we stayed to give the food a try.

Not all of us eat fishhead, so we ordered the steamboat with fish belly slices. On top of that, we added more cabbage and fried yam! Not forgetting the most important LIVE drunken prawns!! They were jumping all around in the glass bowl!

The soup was really tasty! We were discussing if it is because they added lots of msg. So we decided to wait and see if we get really thirsty after that due to the “msg effect”. The next day, we realised we did not get thirsty and decided the soup is authentically tasty! haha.

I will recommend to try it only if you are nearby. Not that awesome to make a long trip down.

Enough of those famous crabs from Mellben or Long Beach! Choa Chu Kang, Singapore serves nice crabs too! Its located at a neighbourhood mall called Sunshine Place and its outside ‘Kopitiam’. The zi char is is pretty decent. Some times the food seems average, but most of the time they are tasty! One of my favourite dish there is the steam red grouper. Fresh and scrumptious! But our all time favourite dish is …. check out below =D

This is the sated egg crab! i am not a fan of salted eggs, but this salted egg crab is just fantastic. The sauce is very very tasty. Its a must try!

20 Jan 2009 Uncle Leong Seafood

Went down to Ang Mo Kio, Singapore, to have dinner at Mellben Seafood Restaurant. The famous restaurant with one of the best served crabs in town. When i reach there, around 7-730. They said we have to wait for approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. What the heck!!! Its a neighbourhood! You want me to chill at the void deck for 1.5 hrs?? So we did not eat there and head to the restaurant opposite. Yes, Uncle Leong Seafood Restaurant. More like a coffeeshop. haa. But let me tell you, its not just a replacement, i am glad Mellben was full house. The food there is just as good! The crab beehoon soup is very tasty. And the we were lucky to get the crab with lots of roll/egg inside! The other food served were tasty too! Mini wok deer meat, fried tou fu and stir fried spinach! Check it out!

Headed to Johor Bahru for supper! Drove round and round and we decided on  this place. The food is quite ok. Nothing fancy, but enough for a filling supper if you cant find anything good! We spent around RM58. We ordered stuff like abalone mushroom with prawns, seafood claypot, san peh ji (chicken) and braised pork etc.

Location is stated in the first picture: There are 4 addresses to 4 outlets in Johor.

Cheers!
